with the 60s expected. for those headed of this evening temperatures are going to drop down to widespread fifty's indicated by the light blue on your screen it. the highs will be low 60s as well as the east bayshore. 60s in half moon bay. and mainly low 60s in the santa rosa, novado, 59 degrees expected for downtown san francisco. as we take a look at your your kron 4 7 day around the bay and plenty of dry days ahead and even some sunshine. >> good morning. not any hotspots is pretty quiet as we head outside the door. we are not seeing any delays for any of the bridges. traffic flowed well for the east shore freeway and also commuting from the nimitz.

officealso no metering lights to deal with and the san mateo bridge, some left over moisture but i am assuring you that we're not seeing any moisture or rain. the golden gate looking good. in fact i've been checking with the c h p and no incidences to report with 22 minutes from the novat into the city. >> the storm in the bay area yesterday caused major delays at s-f-o...the f-a-a was reporting delays on arriving and departing flights at around three hours.. this morning there are no delays out of san francisco international this morning. we'll be keeping an eye on delays out of s-f-o, if any, all morning here on the kron four morning news. >> a sinkhole in the east bay is now even larger than it was when it first collapsed. it happened sunday.. along mountain view road in lafayette. city officials say, a storm drain under the

road here, failed.. opening this enormous hole. they widened the hole by 10 feet to place fabric support then boulders on top. officials fear soil errosion could push up the stream and push the creek... possibly leading to flooding of nearby homes when another storm hits. the road could be closed for the entire winter, as crews figure out a plan to replace the drain. >> the rain soaked ground .... means more trees are taking the fall. in richmond.. crews were out cleaning up this forty- foot tree.. it came crashing down on top of a home on florida avenue over the weekend. the house itself held up.. but the roof was damaged. >> and in san francisco's russian hill neighborhood.. workers were removing a 100- foot cypress tree which the homeowner described the experience. >> what happened it was at first it was like a huge explosion, age-old i thought

it was an earthquake. because of where we lived. - i thought it was because of an earthquake. and my child ran inside and started swinging into action from this hurricane preparedness. and i looked and saw the tree. i at that point, it was a branch sticking out and i said you better go. the glass had already popped out because the bat was right underneath eat it. and right when he rolled over, just two seconds later, right underneath it -- it came down. >> a 75- ton crane had to be brought in ... to begin removing the tree from the house, >> new this morning... one person is dead after a house fire ripped a home in san francisco's ingleside heights neighborhood. the one-alarm fire was reported last night in the

area of 60 saint charles avenue around 8:30. the fire was contained around 9... the victim's identity is not being released at this time. >> also new this morning... the contra costa county sheriff's office is investigating a homicide. it happened last night in pleasant hill. it was reported near the intersection of interstate highway 680 and concord avenue. no further details have been released. we will bring you updates as they become available. >> napa county sheriff's deputies are searching for an 85 -year old man.. described as at risk norman alumbaugh, who you see on the screen, suffers from dementia. he has silver - white hair, is 5 -feet -10 inches tall and weighs 190 pounds. he was driving a silver colored town and country s- u-v. alumbaugh was last seen on trancas street, turning toward silverado trail in napa >> >> authorities in nevada say

a woman has been found and taken to the hospital after she and a nevada man disappeared after leaving a sacramento suburb during bad weather. . authorities say 46-year- old paula lane was found near highway 88 last night. lane was hospitalized, but her condition remains unknown at this time. authorities say lane and 44-year-old roderick cliffton got stuck in the snow during their trip through the sierra nevada. cliffton then left the car and never returned. a body of a man was found nearby but authorities have not said if it is cliffton. >> charges have been filed against a san francisco man ... accused of kidnapping and raping an autistic girl who walked away from her group home in oakland. 36-year-old gary atkinson appeared in court to be arraigned on charges that include rape, kidnapping and lewd acts upon a child. prosecutors say, he assaulted the girl multiple times over a three day period before she managed to escape.

some moderate gains yesterday.. as traders and investors become more optimistic about a budget deal by the end of the year here's a look at yesterday's closing numbers.. the dow closed up 83- points.. to finish above 13- thousand. points... to dip below 3- thousand. the s&p finished of about two points. >> lawyers for the world's top two smartphone makers are returning to court today in san jose. samsung is seeking to overturn a one-billion jury verdict that the korean tech giant "ripped off" apple's designs for its iphone and ipad. apple in turn is looking to add 500-million dollars more to the award while barring sales of some two- dozen, older samsung products from sale in the u.s. >> expect to see some changes to instagram and twitter. previously, when instagram users tweeted about their instragram photos... the image would appear inline with the tweet. now, those inline images are cropped and improperly formatted in mobile apps. according to instagram,

quan says an agreement has been reached. this means, the department, will for now, avoid federal intervention. instead, all sides have agreed to appoint a compliance director to ensure the remaining reforms left on the checklist from the riders case, are completed. >> it is not final until the judge rules. we are optimistic. and i was grateful that we were able to meet directly with the plight of some work out this deal. >> the chief recommended some officers be reprimanded for their actions during occupy oakland protests. the compliance officer will have the authoritiy to hire and fire the chief and other personnel. >> san francisco police say they broke up part of a multi- million dollar auto burglary operation. police arrested three

suspects -- brothers henry and victor gamboa, and ana bastillos. two are still in jail. in their early 20's. $32,000 in cash, jewelry, electronics, ipad said. they believe that this is still going on in the san francisco. and the police chief has a message for the community. >> be careful what you leave in plain view and there is a secondary market for electronic devices. they are easily sold, for mobile commodities and very portable. card your belongings. >> good vice. those three suspects, henry and vector gamboa and ana bastillos..

two of them are in general they are in their early 20s. also, weiner. is concerned about this fight and cellphone thoughts. with local merchants, to try to stop the rise of cellphone-- fa deat cellphonethefts.... >> six bay area contractors were caught up in a statewide fraud sting. a total of a 100 unlicensed contractors were involved. the sting targeted those working without a involved painting, installing flooring, and landscaping.

the six unlicensed contractors were from sonoma county. they were arrested and face misdemeanor charges. the penalty is up to six months in jail and a fine up to 5-thousand dollars. >> the disgraced former head of an elite bay area drug task force is facing up to 17 years in prison. norman wielsch pleaded guilty to stealing drugs from evidence lockers and trying to sell them on the street. the 51-year-old led the now-defunct central costa county narcotics enforcement team, an elite multi-agency unit that conducted drug raids and shut down prostitution rings. he will now be sentenced in february. wielsch and private investigator christopher butler were indicted for stealing drugs, operating a brothel and conducting phony sting operations to rob prostitutes. butler pleaded guilty and is in prison. >> 4:23. we will be right back. first, this live look on this thursday morning.

>> recreational use of marijuana is now legal in the state of washington. voters passed initiative 502 last month, but those who choose to light up -- could find themselves in a legal haze. adults can now possess up to an ounce of pot but growing it and selling it is still a crime. national political figures are pointing out that smoking pot is still a federal crime. colorado also legalized recreational use of marijuana -- but that

amendment won't take effect until the governor proclaims that it passed. same sex marriage is also now legal in the state of washington after the governor signed a measure legalizing same-sex marriage in that state. last month, 54- percent of voters approved referendum- 74.. it had asked people to approve or reject the state law legalizing same-sex marriage..which legislators passed earlier this year. gay and lesbian couples can start picking up their wedding certificates and licenses at county auditors' offices. washington joins several other other states which now allow gay and lesbian couples to wed. >> this tragic discovery in iowa. five months after two cousins vanished while riding their bikes... community are waiting to are the missing girls. 9-year-old elizabeth collins and 11-year-old

lyric cook disappeared july 13th near a popular recreational park in northeast iowa. investigators found their bikes and purses near the lake but no sign of the girls. later today. >> a suspect has been arrested in the death of a man who was pushed onto subway police took 30-year-old naeem davis into custody on the same day the family of the victim, 58-year-old ki- suck han, spoke to the press. davis is accused of pushing han onto the subway tracks monday. han was struck by a train and killed. han's family says they are thankful for the outpouring of support from the city but would now like to mourn their loss in private. >> our family is grieving but want to thank everyone who was reached out to help. we are suffering and sorrow. we have the support of our family, friends, a church

lens but no issue. 101 the southbound plenty of space between cars. there are problems with the visibility and portions of the north bay. certainly drive with extra caution. >> residents in an area of "la honda" are being advise by the san mateo county department of public works to conserve water after storms have stirred up the regions main water source. authorities say recent storms led high levels of sediments in the alpine creek. that's the water source to about a hundred customers in the la honda area. until the water can be replenished, the district is importing from a water source three miles away and asking residents to scale back on water usage. >> clean up crews were in a san anselmo neighborhood, where a clogged sewer pipe overflowed... sending about 30 -thousand gallons of raw sewage, into resident's homes .... and mixing into sleepy hollow creek.

>>this just in to the kron 4 news room a police chase ends with the fire hydrant just before 4:00 a.m. it happened on the corner of a full some in the san francisco. major flooding onto fall some. it has been contained on two-folsom street. we will have a live report, coming up. >> in other bay area news... two people are under arrest on suspicion of repairman in santa clara county. police say, jason dejesus and chanelle troedson, lured the repairman to their home on monday.. where they beat and held him against his will for several hours. the victim was able to escape when they couple stopped at a gas station in san jose. he ran to a nearby home and called police. the suspects are being charged with kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon, criminal threats and conspiracy.

>> police in guatemala have arrested internet security pioneer john mcafee.. for illegally entering the country. he has been on the run from authorities in belize - who want to talk to him about the shooting death of a neighbor last month.. in an interview prior to his arrest.. mcafee to do with the murder.. >> nobody has been blaming me for the murder. they just and really want to question me. there is no basis for extradition. i like guatemala. i think the legal system in guatemala is superior to the legal system and belize.. mcafee is trying to get asylum in guatemala.. and his attorney has filed a request. mcafee claims he is being persecuted for refusing to donate to local politicians in belize.
